Making unmanned and sustainable regional air transportation a reality
The plug-in hybrid remotely piloted aircraft for middle-mile logistics
Technology
A distinctive combination of plug-in hybrid propulsion technology and remote piloting.
Muuv offers a cutting-edge, sustainable solution that combines the efficiency of an electric powertrain with the high energy density of sustainable aviation fuels. The remote piloting system reduces the aircraft’s operating costs while enhancing its safety
¼ operating cost
Compared to existing air transport solutions with the advantage growing over time due to 1 to many remote piloting operations
2 Energy Sources
Support flexible operations independent of charging infrastructure at any of the world-wide 40,000 aviable airfields
Payload
> 100 kg payload flown over a distance of 300 km in battery only mode and 1,200 km in hybrid mode
4x Range
longer range than a comparable all-electric aircraft at full payload and up to a 7x longer range at reduced payload of 50 kg
Traction
A track record of achievements supported by leading institutions
Building on the success of the 2019 NASA/DLR Design Challenge, the team visited the German Aerospace Center to conduct comprehensive research on sustainable aircraft. During this research period, a scaled demonstrator was constructed in collaboration with Airbus, which had its maiden flight in 2023 and is known as the HyBird Demonstrator. This progress and these results led to the decision to spin off the technology and ultimately the incorporation of Muuv.
